MyCare AI — Where To Next?

Ideas for what's next
You built something judges gave an award to — that's the real thing, not a school exercise.
None of this is about what's missing. It's just the handful of choices every team runs into when a good idea grows
into a real product. There are no wrong answers — where you land tells us what to build next.
First, the big one — who is this really for?
- Who's holding the phone? The patient (like Megan) using it herself, or a family caregiver using it for her?
This shapes everything. Your own research showed people trust AI as a helper, not a replacement for a human — so who operates it matters most.
- If it's the patient — how simple does the screen need to be? (Big buttons and voice were a smart start. Go even simpler?)
What's the heart of it?
- Pick one feature to be the soul: the Ask Me Anything advocate, recording & translating the visit, or capturing what matters to you?
Tells us what to build deepest first.
- What made the judges light up? That's probably the core to protect.
Should the AI actually think?
- A real AI that answers anything, or a guided helper with trusted answers?
Real AI is more impressive but needs guardrails so it never gives unsafe medical advice.
- Handoff to the doctor — printed summary, a message, a QR code at the visit? (Priorities only help if the doctor sees them.)
How real do you want it to get?
- Polish a portfolio piece, or dream toward actually shipping it to real families?
- A web link like now, or a real installable phone app?
- Real health info means privacy rules (HIPAA). Keep it demo-only for now, or plan real accounts & data safety?
- Team, time, deadline? Next competition round or a class due date changes the plan.
You already got the hardest part right
You designed MyCare as an advocate and translator, not something that diagnoses you. Your research backs this
exactly: patients rated an AI "digital scribe" 4.24 / 5 for comfort, but an AI "virtual human" making diagnoses
only 1.68 / 5. You pointed the product at the trustworthy, human-centered role on purpose. That's a designer's instinct — keep it.
