Kyros BT Connect is an Android app that checks whether your aftermarket head unit can stream Bluetooth audio (A2DP) to your car's built-in Bluetooth radio, then, once a purchase unlocks it, helps you pair and stay connected. This page explains what the app sends off your phone, when, and why. We wrote it to match what the app actually does, not a generic template.

The short version

Nothing leaves your phone without you being asked first. Two kinds of reports exist, both opt-in, both shown to you before they're sent: a compatibility report (device/ROM facts) and a crash report (what broke, if something did). Neither includes your name, your phone number, your location, your MAC address, your IMEI or serial number, or your Google account. A separate, narrower record exists for purchase-related fraud prevention, described below.

Compatibility reports (opt-in)

After the app runs its compatibility check, you're shown a screen asking "Send this compatibility report to help us support your unit?" before anything is sent. If you decline, nothing is sent. If you accept, the report contains only:

• Device/ROM facts: manufacturer, model, build fingerprint, board, and hardware identifiers (these describe the head unit's software build and chipset family, not you)
• The Android version and app version running the check
• Pass/fail results for each compatibility check the app ran, and which API call path failed if one did
• The outcome of the pairing attempt: whether the car accepted the Bluetooth bond, whether the audio (A2DP) service was detected afterward, and whether a real audio connection was attempted and whether it succeeded
• A genericized label for the car-side Bluetooth profile (for example, a BMW-family identifier), not the raw device name your car broadcasts
• A timestamp and an anonymous, rotatable install ID (a random ID the app generates for itself, not tied to your device, account, or phone number)

This report is keyed to that anonymous install ID so we can tell "this is the same install reporting again" apart from "a different phone," and nothing more. You can reset the install ID from within the app at any time, which severs the link between past and future reports.

We do not collect: your MAC address, your IMEI or device serial number, your precise or coarse location, your Google account or email, your name, or any advertising ID.

Crash reports (opt-in)

If the app crashes, you'll see a dialog asking whether to send a crash report, with a plain description of what's in it, before anything is sent. If you decline, nothing is sent. If you accept, the report contains the stack trace, the app version and package name, and the same kind of device/ROM facts as the compatibility report (manufacturer, product, model, build, Android version), plus whatever compatibility check was running when the crash happened. It does not include your device ID (IMEI/serial), your email, your IP address, other apps' logs, or anything saved in the app's own settings (including a paired device's Bluetooth address, once that feature exists).

Connect-success record (tied to your purchase)

The paid unlock in this app is a one-time, non-refundable-after-verification purchase. To protect against fraudulent refund and chargeback claims (for example, a claim that the connect feature never worked when it demonstrably did), we keep a record of whether a successful audio connection happened before your purchase (during the free check) and after your purchase (once unlocked), each with a timestamp, your anonymous install ID, and the purchase token Google Play assigns to your transaction. This record exists solely to resolve refund and chargeback disputes; it is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is not linked to your name or account beyond what Google Play itself already associates with the purchase token.

What we do not collect, ever

• Your name, email, or phone number
• Your precise or coarse location
• Your Google account, contacts, or any other app's data
• Your device's MAC address, IMEI, or serial number
• Advertising identifiers
• Anything from your device's shared logs (logcat) or other apps

How we use what we do collect

Compatibility and crash reports are used to build a picture of which head units, chipsets, and ROM builds work, partially work, or don't, so we can improve the app and give honest verdicts to future users. The connect-success record is used only to evaluate refund and chargeback disputes.

Retention

Reports are retained as long as they're useful for improving compatibility support and resolving disputes; we don't have a fixed deletion schedule set up yet, and will update this policy when we do. Resetting your install ID from within the app stops any future report from being linkable to past ones, but does not retroactively delete reports already sent.

Your choices

• Decline any compatibility or crash report; the app works the same either way, and declining does not affect your refund rights beyond the fraud-prevention record described above.
• Reset your anonymous install ID at any time from within the app.

Changes to this policy

If what the app collects changes, this page will change with it before the update ships.
